Liveaboard Association of Maldives (LAM) has appointed a new executive board and management.
The association invited interested members early last month to file candidacy for the post of president, vice president and treasurer. Members were also asked to apply for nine executive board member positions.
At the annual general meeting held at Unima Grand hotel in capital Male Thursday evening, Ibrahim Shahid from Blue K safari vessel was elected president, with Ismail Hameed from local event management company Highrise being voted the vice president. Ahmed Afrah from Canopus Maldives retained the treasurer’s post.
Mufeed Abdulla from Maldives Boat Club, Moosa Rasheed from Aimo Travels, Ahmed Zubair Adam from VAM Co., Hawwa Nafeela from Voyages Maldives, Ahmed Ibrahim from Nooranee Trade and Travels, Hussain Shahudy from Trip Concept, Amir Mansoor from Carpe Diem Maldives, Abdulla Nasheed from Marselia safari vessel, and Ahmed Visham from Azalea Cruise were elected executive board members.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Ignaaz Ali was appointed the secretary general for a second term.
Founded in 2007, LAM represents liveaboards operating in the Maldives and helps them expand their businesses through lobbying and promotional efforts. The non-profit also organises an annual exhibition, Maldives Marine Expo, and hosts the annual Maldives Boating Awards.
